Stop Telemarketing Calls Once and for All...

Telemarketing calls have annoyed a lot of people over the years. Telemarketers can be very persistent even if you tell them that you cannot take the call. A simple “no” does not do it most of the time. Some of these callers will only stop talking if you hang up. If you let out any hint of interest, they take it as a sign that they can persuade you into buying an item. Fortunately there are a number of things you can do to stop them from pestering you. Here are some of them in detail.
Use the Internet. One helpful website is Do Not Call. This is the website for the National Do-Not-Call Registry. You may start by registering your home and office phone number on this website. You can also register you mobile number if you want. Registration is free so you do not have to worry. After the registration, there will be an activation period of 31 days. After this, telemarketers will be banned from gaining access to your phone. If you still receive telemarketing calls after 31 days, you may file your complaint on the website.
  •  Have your number taken off. When telemarketers call you, you can choose to talk to them properly instead of hanging up. Tell them that you want your number taken off from their list. Many telemarketers honor this kind of request. Some may not, but, at least, the number of callers will decrease at this point. There are also some who will give excuses why your number cannot be taken off. In such cases, you may inform them that you have actually registered your number on the National Do-Not-Call Registry. If they continue calling you, tell them that you will file a complaint against their respective companies. Doing that will scare them off.
  •  Do not give false hopes. Telling the telemarketers to just call again will not help. This will give them the impression that even if you are busy, you are interested so they will definitely call again. Be straightforward that you do not want them calling.
  • Turn your answering machine on. Telemarketers know that you would not call them back if they just leave a voice message. They prefer to talk to you so that they can use their persuasion strategies. If you are not waiting for important calls, it is best to turn your answering machine off.
At first, telemarketers may entertain you with their upbeat tones and remarkable persuasive skills. But, once you've had enough of their calls, extreme annoyance and impatience may consume you. You may even be more annoyed when you find out that some of their calls are charged to you. Hence, it is important to know how telemarketing calls can be stopped. It’s either you stop their calls from coming in or you take the actual call and tell them to stop. If you choose the latter, be careful how you talk to them. As much as possible, be upfront and do not make them think that you are interested in any way.

  1. The best way to deal with telemarketers is to use block technology along with websites like 800notes or badnumbers.com.
